Other mobile apps
What other apps do they use for their business as well as personally
45 anecdotes
I don’t have any free time to download new apps. Yes, I have downloaded apps many times before. I downloaded the app but didn’t know what to do with it. Often I deleted the app then reinstalled; sometimes I asked someone for help. I always have doubts about how to add my photo, how to add my name and contact number; I asked all these things.
I keep customers numbers written in my diary. On Truecaller, you can see who you have called; you can send WhatsApp message from Truecaller also. There is no need of saving name/contacts. Earlier I used to write contacts in diary, but in Truecaller every information is visible; you can see their name and you can send WhatsApp message from there.
I don't have much knowledge about other apps for business. I have fewer items now. I purchased sarees yesterday, but I did not receive those goods. There was an auto strike yesterday. They will be delivered today. I will purchase some readymade items after 8-10 days. Once I have all the items in stock, I will contact all my old customers. They used to come and go back because the items were limited. Once I have all the items in stock, I hope to improve the business. I have a lot of passion but don't know what God's decision is.
I have posted on Facebook 1-2 times. There is a sponsored page where we have to pay charges as well, around 1000-1200 rupees per month. I have not been consistent with it. I did it for 1-2 months initially, and then, before every month of Deepawali, I would post to promote my offer. The agent and client of Facebook approached us. Since I have knowledge about it, I thought I could do this instead of hiring a staff member for 8000-9000 rupees who would visit houses and promote the availability of products at Vinayak furniture. It's better to advertise through Facebook for 1000 rupees, where the ad will reach every person, rather than going to each house and personally informing them about the availability of products at Vinayak furniture. By advertising on Facebook, the message will reach multiple people, as there might be 5 people in a home who use Facebook, and they will all become aware of my advertisement for Vinayak furniture. I have joined 1-2 furniture sector groups on Facebook in Delhi, where we can find furniture raw materials related to hardware. Yes, it is useful. In these groups, I find good things at a lower cost.
Facebook is helping in advertising. Through WhatsApp, we get to know about the needs of the customers. Through YouTube, I gain knowledge about new technology. Yes, from day 1, I have felt that technology has helped my business to grow.
Yes, I know there are shops on Instagram. Yes, I follow them. I see all kinds of clothes and fashion trends. They are in the clothing business. I don't pay attention to whether it is wholesale or retail. I just follow them. I don't receive any help in my business. I receive help for myself. I receive help for buying outfits for weddings and parties.
Yes, I have joined a few groups on Facebook. Rajasthani Koshak, Gift Packing, New clothes group to know what's going on in fashion, what kind of saris are in trend. I get some information and see what cost I am selling it at and what other people are charging for it.
You can say that I am busy from 11 to 12. I don't have a continuous retail counter. I mostly supply. I receive enquiries through WhatsApp or email. I work on them and supply. That is my main focus. There is less emphasis on retail.
I spend almost the whole day on Tally. Once I have come to the office, Tally will always be on. Always. Morning to evening, as long as the shop is open.
If you look at my screen time then most of my time is spent on YouTube. And then I have some broking apps like Sherkhan and Zerodha.
Yes, I have heard about Telegram. Earlier I used Telegram but mostly all my work is done on WhatsApp because there are few people who don't use Telegram but everyone uses WhatsApp. So that's why WhatsApp is more handy I think.
Yes, there is one Vyapar app that I use. It's for specific things where the customer doesn't want a bill or doesn't need it; it's just a simple inquiry or they just want to know the rate. I came to know about this while I was scrolling on my mobile phone, and I saw it. It was very easy, so I took a one-month trial. I liked it. I saw it in ads. I'm not sure whether it was on YouTube or Instagram.
I can say that I like India Mart, which I am not currently using, but it's a good app. There is one small problem: the enquiries in the app include some unnecessary ones that are not actually enquiries. So, there are those types of customers in that app. If India Mart improves that, it will be better. There are enquiries, but they are not legitimate enquiries. Yes, so those enquiries are not legitimate enquiries. 90% of the enquiries that I receive are like that. Only 10% are legitimate enquiries, but 90% of the enquiries are like that.
I can see everything in tally software. I have a day book for recording. I enter everything like 18/9, 19/9. I received 12100/ on September 18th, 19000/ on September 19th. So I keep records for each day. I received 25000/ on the 13th, so I maintain every record and also maintain it online. It goes to my account. Yes, I record them online. I have another ledger on the Khata book app. I make entries there. If any customer has taken something on credit, I will also maintain that. Once the payment is made, I will also maintain that record. Someone has paid 3750rs. It is shown here. The collection was 3750rs. I haven't settled it yet, once I do that, it will go into my account. It is showing 3750. You can also check for yesterday. It is 4380/.
I used the Khatabook app to keep track of credits. I give products on credit. For example, Atul Shukla took products on credit from me for 78000/-. Yesterday, he took products worth 750/-. We will upload this information, and when he needs it, I will give it to him with just one click. He frequently takes products from me, so if I check the report, he has taken wiring products worth 126316rs. He has paid me 48000, and he still owes me 78000rs. Here are the times he took products: yesterday for 750/, on 18th August for 4000, on 16th August for 6000/, and on 14th August for 16000/. I will maintain their credit on this app, so I won't need to use a diary. Local customers can come in, get the stuff, and pay later. I will make the entry on this app. This app will benefit me by sending reminders to the person whose number I have saved for the payment. The app will also send a PDF report to that person.
Before using Khatabook, I used to keep a diary, which I still have. Now, everything is on my phone. Even if I'm driving and someone calls me to ask about their pending payment, I can easily check it on my phone and generate notes. I can then send them a PDF report, which they can also download without any confusion.
We have a Facebook group called Aryan Traders. All the college teachers are members. I have put up posters of my shop in the coaching centers across the district. All the teachers are connected to the group. Additionally, if you visit any coaching center, you will find our banner there. I also receive support from the coaching centers. All the coaches in the area support me, and I don't have to pay anything for the banner. My father is a politician, so he is well-known in this area and throughout the district. Being his son, I benefit from his reputation without having to explain it to anyone. They all support me.
We use Facebook for promotions. If you visit my page, you will see that someone reads something every day. I have created a Facebook page with my name instead of the shop's name for now. I have about 1800 friends, so 1800 people receive the information. We post all our products there. If we have something new, I will show it to you. We don't run ads on Facebook. This is my ID. There is Sri Electronics in the background and the shop in the front. We have products like Havells', RO, and Alkaline Water.
I have posted the ad (Facebook post). Now, like this. Today's meeting is at Sri Electronics, Jalwar, Pratapgarh, and the ad is for Havells. Take a look at this. I keep organizing meetings like this. This is done. Then, check out the Electrician meeting at Sri Electronic by Standard. It's a Standard company. They are aware of all this. Then, there is a Havells meeting at Sri Electronic. Jalwar, Pratapghad. They keep including all these things. There is an Electrician meeting at Jail Road by RR. So our customers, or rather, our friends, have the impression that many companies come to his place. This means that the products at his place must be good. There are numerous meetings happening at his place. Company representatives go to places where sales are good. So, in a way, you are changing their mindset. In a way, an environment is being created through Facebook and Status. It conveys that his shop is good and many people visit there. This creates a positive influence. That's why it is important. It's not much, but for people who see it, one person has liked it and now the whole locality knows about it. He might have 20 or 25 friends there, and they will also like it and see that RR, Havells, Standard; all branded companies are coming to his place. They are getting some quality. So, Facebook is being used.
All the vendor companies have provided their apps to me, such as Havells. In those apps, I am able to see the rates - the price and the minimum price. If you take a look, Havells, RR, and other vendors have their own apps like RR Connect. In these apps, you can find my name, Vishnu Kumar Dubey, and my mobile number. If you need any information, for example, currently, the Summer Bonanza scheme is running. I clicked on it and now the information is available. It shows the sales for this month and the number of incentives. I have achieved the highest level, which is level 3. The requirement was to reach 203, and I surpassed it by reaching 205. As a result, I received an incentive. I received my incentive as the 36th person, meaning that in addition to what I sold, the company gave me incentive points. The company regularly runs these types of programs. All of us use these apps. Please note that these apps are not for customers; they are specifically for me and are provided by the company. This extra profit is a bonus for me. The company informs me that if I sell 200 of their coils this month, there is a specific scheme running and I will be eligible for it. We strive to achieve these schemes, and we succeed!
I share updates on Facebook Usually, once a month, we hold a meeting. The great thing about it is that we get to review all the electricians. For instance, if you attended my meeting, I would give you a gift and provide you with food. Whatever I do, you will be encouraged to attend the next meeting. At that time, I will ask you about your business generated for Sri Electronics, considering you attended the previous meeting as well as this one. This way, we review their progress every month. And I conduct these meetings every month. The next one is scheduled for the 23rd of this month, and I will continue to hold them every month. The reviews keep happening. As the attendees experience these reviews, they understand the importance of providing me with business. Therefore, they won't suggest any other shop. Whenever they recommend someone, they will suggest Sri Electronics because they know I organize numerous meetings and invite company representatives to join. During these meetings, I introduce the person from Havells so that they focus on my business instead of my face. It's essential for you all to bring in more business, as it determines whom I can invite. I mentally set a target for them, aiming for at least one lakh in business generation. If each contractor brings in a minimum of one lakh, and there are 30 contractors, the total business turnover will be 30 lakhs. Targets like these are established. For example, even the person who simply paid and left is an electrician. They visit customers, complete the work, collect the payment, and deliver it here. This way, my time is also saved. In a sense, they become my employees. All the electricians are essentially treated as employees, and I occasionally give them gifts.
At the start of a business, the primary issue is that customers are not aware of you. They are not familiar with your brand. When a new shop opens, customers tend to stick with the familiar options like Agrawal Book Depot, the old bookstores. Our challenge was to attract children to our shop. To tackle this, we created a Telegram group specifically for kids.
Yes, we have a group named Arihant on Telegram. We began linking the children to that group. Initially, we connected the children using WhatsApp. However, we encountered an issue where the girls' data was being leaked. To resolve this problem, we switched to connecting the children through Telegram. By doing so, we were able to hide the girls' numbers and connect the children without any issues. Unlike WhatsApp, which displayed the number of the person calling me, Telegram did not have this issue. Therefore, I decided to connect the children through Telegram.
We obtained the students' numbers from the counter at the place of sale. We scanned the numbers of the children. The girls approached us automatically. We only do this in Pratapgarh. The children come to us with a query - they want a specific book but cannot find it anywhere. So we advise them to join the group and add their book to it. Once the book arrives, we will place an order and notify them. They can then check if it has arrived or not. As I cannot answer everyone's calls, we encourage them to submit their queries. We reply to these queries ourselves, as it was our own idea and no one told us to do it. We have never been shopkeepers, but rather focused on customer service. Our first job was in customer service, aiming for customer satisfaction. We strive to satisfy anyone who comes to us, especially when they show us the book they are looking for. We receive a lot of satisfaction from helping them and request them to provide feedback. We address the queries of the children and respond to them accordingly. Here are the queries from the children and our replies.
We use an app called Vyapaar for inventory management. It helps us keep track of the items that come in and automatically notifies us about customer requirements. If multiple children come in and ask for the same item, we make sure to keep a record of it. For example, Link's Pentonic pen is a popular seller. Neo2X is another popular brand. We have pens that are priced at Rs. 3, and they sell very well. These pens are disposable and in high demand. Ruff and Spiral Notebook are also top-selling items, so we always make sure to have them in stock. Whenever these pens run out, we either go and restock them or call to have them delivered. We are aware of their popularity and make sure to replenish them in a timely manner. However, we don't directly purchase the Rs. 3 pens. We have local vendors who supply them to us.
We have two IDs available on Facebook. One is in the name of P (Personal). When we opened the shop, we had 5,000 friends. So, we made another ID in the name of Aryan Traders. I only post personal things on my P ID. Today is my son's birthday. It's my brother's wedding. Today is my marriage anniversary. Today is my birthday. It's my wife's birthday. Okay. When I go for Darshan or an outing, I upload my photo there. In Arihant Traders, we also upload photos. We don't post anything new. We have a B.Ed form. If there is any B.Ed counselling, I inform students through our Facebook page. So, we also post about that..
The number of customers has increased, but not significantly due to competition from Facebook, which has a large user base and occasionally inquire about books through Messenger. While some sales are generated through this channel, they are infrequent. Here is the ID of Aryan Traders, and you can see a photo of it (showing Facebook posts). I have made some posts, including one about Pradhanacharya's visit to Entry College. He was celebrated on his birthday and received an award yesterday. Challenger Point has shared this information. There is a prominent coaching center here, which they have also posted about. These posts are from Scholars Academy and the coaching center. Pradhanacharya is a well-known coach, and many students prefer to study here. I have made a post about it.
Around 1-2 years ago, I created a Facebook page for my store. When we reached 5000 friends, I decided to convert it into a page for Arihant stationery. I have been using technology since the beginning, without any guidance. It was my own idea.
I recently started using the Vyapar App. Before that, I used to keep paper bills. One of my friends, is the head of Vyapar App. He recommended that I use the Vyapar App as it would make things easier for me. After trying it out recently, I really liked it and would recommend it to others. One of the great features is that I no longer need to search for bills to check the prices of items. They provide me with the rates directly. So, whenever I need to know the rate, I simply ask them. The app also helps me keep a record of my transactions, which has solved many of the problems I used to face. We started using this app about a week or two ago, and it has been a positive change for us. Previously, we used to do everything manually, including billing and receiving items directly in my name from the supermarket.
Sometimes I get party from Instagram for spare parts. I saw suppliers of Gujarat and Punjab there. Second hand parts seller also I saw on Instagram. I mostly watch Instagram for this reason.I message them too. I follow them because I should come to know when they would post new video on it regarding new vehicles.
Yes, I have app to note down accounts in my mobile but I don’t use. I can keep my balance……accounts and all in it but I have not used it, if I do it then I will have to take down my balance stock. It will be time-consuming.
No. I have my business card on my Whatsapp status; I did it when I started new. No. you can see my card, on Facebook also I have put. I don’t keep it all the time; I put it on festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali….
I don’t get much time to use Facebook; you can say that.
Most people don't know that it only takes 2-3 days to learn how to use a smart phone. Personally, I don't pay much attention to it. However, if something is good, I save it on Instagram. Similarly, if I come across a video I like on Facebook, I can save it. If I am unable to save it, I forward it to my family. I either forward it to my wife or to my friend. If I can't save it or forward it, I simply remember it.
I share my videos on Instagram and Snapchat too. However, they don't get much viewership there. Most people watch them on WhatsApp. On WhatsApp, at least 175 people regularly see my status. I don't focus much on Instagram. I don't post frequently on Facebook and Instagram. People place an order and then it gets delivered. No, I don't deliver to their homes.
I don't know if these girls I commissioned have posted it on their social media accounts, but I have. It has been 2-3 years now. I gave it to another girl, and she also posted it on her status. I shared it on my Instagram and uploaded a video. I have already informed you about the item we saved earlier.
There is a Pharma Rack app. It is on the mobile. Yes, it's easy to use. If there is a new product, then we search for it here. It also shows which stockist has the product available. This is just the wholesaler details. I search for new medicine in the search tab. I also search on Google, but here they have mentioned the stockist directly. Here they have the doctor, stockist, and Ashish Medical Agencies.
Instagram is a good platform for publicity, but it is similar to Facebook, which can create some apprehension. I have considered putting my store online, but I have reservations about it. I have tried it once before, but as a woman, I question if I can truly succeed. There are times when I doubt my abilities. However, if I set my mind to it, I believe I can achieve success. Additionally, family responsibilities play a role in my decision-making. Currently, there are two patients in my household, and my son is young, only nine or ten years old. I must prioritize taking care of him. Furthermore, his own career is a consideration. Taking all these factors into account, I often find myself holding back. If I have a reliable support system and feel confident that something is not a scam, I would definitely pursue it.
Not online, but it is on Facebook by the name of Das and Son's. My wife did it; I can't say when she did it. She clicked the photos and uploaded them on FB. I don't follow it online so much. I have all local customers. They all come here. Most people in this area come to my shop. I don't think anything has changed. Here, all customers know me, so I don't think they would come here after seeing online. The people who know me, they all come here. I don't think I have gained any profit from uploading photos online. I am talking about my shop.
I have thought about this on Facebook, and I would like to develop it further. Whenever I get new stock of goods, I will also add them on Facebook. However, I am not very familiar with Facebook. I only have an account and that's it. I don't know much about it or what happens on it. I need to explore it more before I can develop my online business further.
Then I also use Okay Credit, and the customer receives a message from the Okay Credit app. The customer's phone number is added to it. I can see how much dues I have given to that customer through this application, and she also receives a message. I also have the data. They come to the shop and give me money. Some customers pay monthly, and some customers say they will make the payment within 10 days. It depends on the customer's loyalty. The reminder setting option is also available. The people who pay monthly receive a message on the due date automatically. Someone added me to the group, and that's how I got to know about Okay Credit. I can also see ads on social media. I got to know about it through the Wholesaler group.
I do use Facebook normally, like others do, and I also used it for my business in the past. I used to post photos, but now I don't have time due to work pressure. When I had 100 pieces of jewelry, I had to post all 100 and not only that, I had to respond to customers when they asked for something. I don't have enough time for this now. I have posted before, but I didn't receive much response. Only my local customers responded. They would come to my store regardless of what I posted on Facebook. They also come through WhatsApp status. I have never received responses from all over India. I didn't join Facebook groups because it is costly and I don't need to do anything on them.
We have been fortunate to experience significant growth through social media, which has granted us global recognition. Recently, one of our videos went viral, and as a result, we've been getting continuous calls and inquiries. The video has got over 1.3 million views, and it has increased demand for our products. Initially, I believed that our grinders would only last for 5 or 6 years, and I thought that people wouldn't need them frequently. However, after witnessing the video's viral success, I've come to understand that there is a consistent demand for our products, in fact, for any products. Meeting this demand is now is our top priority.
I use GST calculator app for business.
I don't have any other apps for business. I have Jio app, AJIO. They are giving us wholesale items. I buy items like socks, towels, kerchiefs, etc.. Then there is a company called Udaan. They came here and did marketing. I have that. Local shops are also using apps. Hindustan (company) items like soap, toys, etc. are available online. If we click necessary items online, they will deliver it and we pay in cash on delivery. I purchase 80% from outside and only 20% online. I like to go and purchase. I like to see things and purchase things. That's why I go out to purchase myself
