Product Quality
How do they ensure that they are buying quality product
62 anecdotes
I thought about selling products on Quikr. There are a few people here who do their business on Quikr. But as I have already mentioned, I don't want to invest my money into unnecessary things. I don't want customers to approach me with product-related issues after I sell them the product on Quikr. I am okay with selling products to people I know personally, but I am not comfortable selling products to unknown individuals.
I have already told you about all the challenges that I am facing in my business. But the biggest challenge for me is the introduction of online shopping platforms, which have hampered my business in a significant way. Everyone knows that the market is declining because people now prefer to buy products online. Every shop owner and retailer will say the same thing as me. On top of that, people have started trusting these online platforms. However, the issue with buying products online is that you can't do anything if you find any defects with the product. Let's say you buy a Lakme product online. But after using this Lakme product, you find that it is causing skin issues for you. In that case, you can't do anything about it or go to anyone. But if you buy the same Lakme product from a shop and find issues with it, you can go to the shop owner and return the product. After that, the shop owner can contact the company and inform them about the issue with their product.
I haven't had the opportunity to sell products on Amazon or Flipkart. But if I do get this opportunity, I will definitely consider investing my money and selling products on these online shopping platforms. I know that I will be able to sell my products on Amazon and Flipkart. But the thing is that people won't buy products from me. They will buy products directly from the company because they can avail benefits and discount offers in that way. The thing is that the quality of the products available on Amazon is known to Amazon and the company to which those products belong. People like us wouldn't know the quality of those products.
You can tell just by looking whether the part is good; whether it is of good quality. No, there are genuine parts, original parts available. There are copies available too; but you can tell by looking. I use genuine parts if the customer is ready to pay. If it's a bargaining customer I use copied parts. I tell the customer beforehand whether I will use original or copied part and repair will be done under the customers’ budget.
I get a 5% discount on genuine/original parts from vendors. For copies, the pricing is different. There is an MRP, but we are told a different price. I get a 10 to 15% discount for copies. I only buy what is needed for a vehicle, I don't buy more. Every vehicle requires different types of spare parts, so if I stock them, I will have to wait, and the stock may go to waste.
No, I don't use WhatsApp for buying from wholesalers. The material is not understood through WhatsApp. It is better to go and look personally. Even those who have been in this business for 100 years cannot exactly know the quality. I just know that if I get an item for Rs.100, I can sell it for Rs.110 or Rs.120. No one can guarantee the quality, and no one can exactly fix the rate. The mills set a rate, the wholesalers set another rate, and finally, we set another rate. At each level, they take some profit. No one can determine a perfect rate.
Underwear and baniyans are delivered. There is no need to check the quality there. I just send the names on WhatsApp. These items kept here are underwear and baniyans. I send the names and sizes. So, they deliver them here.
For sarees, I have to check and buy. There are new designs daily. If we get old designs, then we cannot sell them. No, for sarees, we have to check and purchase. Once I purchase, I get an auto and bring the items. They will drop the items here. I have an Activa of my daughter. I use that. If it is a small bundle, I bring it on Activa. If the bundle is big, the auto drops them here. They charge 60-70 per bundle. I buy only what is needed. If the sarees are light, I can bring around 100 sarees. If the sarees are heavy, it will be 25-30. If the sarees are very heavy, I bring only 20-25.
I have to go and check the items before buying from wholesalers. Otherwise, I will get bad items. I will get the good ones even when I make a phone call. But they will send items that are not sold there. I may have to sell them off at half the price. That will be a loss for me.
I purchase mobile phone parts from the HP Road market. I visit different shops to find the best discount and buy from the shop with the lowest price. Since all the shops offer the same quality, there is no need to compare. Before making a purchase, I inspect the products for any defects right there in the shop. Usually, a quick visual inspection is enough. For example, if it's a display, I check for any damages. Sometimes, I even ask the shop to test a part by turning it on. I buy various components such as mobile displays, microphones, speakers, etc. And yes, I test them before making the purchase.
Customers come from far places: Handia, Saidabad, Kakra, Kathua, Chhibaiya, and Chusni. If the shop's variety, range, and behavior are good, everyone comes. Quality is also maintained.
Three things are important to bring customers back to the shop: the rate, behavior, and quality should be good. Only then will customers come. If our behavior is not good, the material is not good, or the quality is not good, customers will not come. We choose a good college for education. We consider Bangalore to be the best city for education. It is the best for education.
Customers come to my shop repeatedly and they are my regular customers. It depends on quality. As I have maintained quality and rate, customers come to me. Otherwise, there are many shops and customers. There is no rule that you have to buy from me. You can buy things from wherever you want to buy. It does not matter. I have already told you that customers consider behavior, quality, and rate.
I ask for feedback about the products from customers. When a customer comes to me next time, I ask them: "Are you satisfied with my material? Did you get the proper material? Is the person who came to your home for puja happy?" Then the customer explains to me whether the material is good. If the customer is not satisfied or if the material is faulty, I return it to where I bought it and close the account. Then I try to buy something better and maintain the quality. If I have bought something and it is not good, I would not purchase the material from the same place but from another place to maintain the quality of the material. I do not go back to the vendor. If the vendor gives me faulty material, I would not go to them again. If we both do not have a proper conversation, you would not come next time. I would say that the material and rate are not proper. If the vendor behaves very rudely, I would not go back to them. If you behave well, I would also behave similarly. Otherwise, God would do good for us. 'Narayan' is the one who gives and takes. I just know Narayan; nobody else.
My customer base has increased in the past few years. The reason is that I have gradually increased the materials and maintained quality. Therefore, my customer base has grown.
I will use it first to check the quality of the items from vendors. Yes, if I use it and the quality is good, only then will I be able to speak about it confidently. If I provide you with good quality items, then you will also go ahead and tell others that I have good quality items, so that they will come and purchase from me. When it comes to devotional items, we have to use them. Yes, I have used them all. I perform pooja at home, so before I sell them, I use them for Lord Krishna (also known as Thakurji).
If there is a defective product, I take the product back to the vendor and inform them about the problem. I ask them how they will handle this situation for us. They usually say that we can return the product, exchange it for another one, and give it to the customer. We only purchase from reliable vendors. We don't buy from vendors who refuse to accept returns. When I buy products, I make it clear to the vendor that they will be responsible for any defects or damages. I am collecting money from the customer for that product. We don't mind paying more for the product, but the quality has to be good. If the shop's reputation goes down, customers will not come back. Both you and I prefer to go to good doctors. Good doctors prescribe fewer medicines, but they are effective. They provide quality medications. When people visit doctors, they expect to receive good medicines for their treatment.
There are some things that are important to keep a business running. If your language, behavior, product, and signs of respect are good, then your shop will not close. It will continue to work with God's grace, and with God's grace, it is working well.
We have to motivate them. If a customer asks me about the rate and I tell him the rate and ask him to take it, on what basis will he make the decision? It depends on factors such as my language and behavior, whether I am giving a guarantee, the quality of the products and raw materials, and if I can deliver on my promises. All of these factors are dependent on behavior; if the behavior is good, customers are more likely to make a purchase. If 15-20 customers come in a day, we aim to ensure that 90% of them leave with a purchase. This is our objective in our work. The language in Bangalore may be different, but we try to be familiar with their language so that they don't feel like outsiders. We aim to remove any language barriers for customers, managing the communication in their preferred way. We can explain things to local customers in our own way, but for customers from outside who may not be familiar with furniture, we explain things in their language and in a way that they can understand. This helps them feel that they are in the right place.
In our three years of operation, we have learned that if we provide a good product, customers will share their positive experience with four people. On the other hand, if we provide a bad product, they will share their negative experience with forty people. That's why we encourage customers to see our manufacturing process firsthand.
How I choose vendors according to customers' needs. A customer will come here for 5 minutes, choose furniture, and the furniture will reach their house on the same day. So why would a customer go 5 kilometers in traffic for furniture? There is a question - will they provide service or not? It is far, but customers walk from this road only. They'll go to Shanti Puram through this way only. Teachers go to their jobs from here. We have a CRPF camp, so it is easy for them to come for 2 minutes and complain about their issues on this route. In today's date, nobody has so much time to go and complain. They will use it until it is fine. If it breaks, then throw it. Nobody has time to complain. Among 100%, 2-4% complain, otherwise, nobody complains. If somebody's route is this, then they think of coming and complaining for 2 minutes. They trust the nearby people. That's why I thought that a furniture shop would be best for this area. Then I opened a furniture shop according to the needs of the customers. At the start, we couldn't manufacture things. Then I saw that there are 4-5 guest houses. Without invitation, I visited the guest houses in the evening. I saw what things people give during weddings, what quality, and range those products are. Then I thought that I have to keep products in that range only. Then I met 1-2 furniture shopkeepers and asked them where they bring things from and who their vendors are. They didn't provide me with the right information. Among 10, 8 answered me wrong, and 2 answered me right. Then I started taking things from those 2, like from the local market of Banaras. Then I went to Delhi, where I got to know about gerili wood. The wholesaler is selling only for his profit. The motive of the wholesaler is to sell cheap and attractive things so that the shopkeeper will sell it at a higher price. But our concept was not that. Our concept was that the materials from the wholesaler should be good because if we are selling, that will show our reputation as well. If I give bad products, then he might take it today, this year, next year. After that, he will not take it, and he will tell 4 people. Those 4 people will tell 8 more people that our products only look good but their quality is zero. During the opening, we bought products from the vendor only for show. I also sold it to some people. I kept it for 15-20 days.
I bought ready-made furniture to launch our store. Yes, just for the opening and to attract a crowd, we did that. If a customer liked the dressing, then I would tell them that it was already sold. We could make a similar one in one week's time. I didn't sell that particular piece to the customer. What would the wholesaler give me and what would I give you? I found local laborers who do such household work and started my manufacturing unit. We started by copying their work and making our own. At first, we didn't have polishing work, so we started with mica work because we couldn't find laborers who knew how to polish. We started using mica, and then the laborers started coming by themselves for work. We didn't give the vendor's products to the customer; we gave them our own products for trust and quality.
I am aware of the quality of the vendor's products, which is why I didn't sell them. In order to meet the needs of the customers and the market, I didn't find that material to be good. For example, if there is no finishing on the car's handle or grill, customers won't find it good even if it's very nice. Similarly, if the hinges are loose or the magnet is not powerful, the material is not considered good. If you lie and sell things in the market, they may sell for a few days, but if you sell the right things, they will sell forever because people will advertise them to at least four more people. Therefore, we always aim to sell good products if we want to operate in the long term.
Yes, there is a difference between online websites like Amazon and Flipkart and our shop. You will find 90% of these products online, but we sell them too. This product costs 30 rupees per square foot, while this one costs 50 rupees per square foot. The former is made of wood, while the latter is made of bhusa wood. However, the latter may not last long. It is cheaper, but customers are willing to pay 1000 more if they can get a good product from our shop.
We go to the market to buy items for our shop. We buy whatever the wholesaler shows us and whatever we like from that collection. We ask the wholesaler if there are any problems with the color and if they will fade after one wash or not. We simply ask for the company's details. We choose clothes from companies that offer good quality products and avoid local ones. Yes, the clothes from Om and MK are good, so we mostly buy clothes from those companies to prevent customer complaints. I also keep an eye on the market trends while purchasing clothes from wholesalers. The color is the main factor, along with good variety and quality materials.
Yes, I check the quality of clothes. If the clothes are good, it means they are of good quality and the color is good. First of all, the material should be good, the color should be good, and it shouldn't fade. You can determine if the design is good by looking at it.
Yes i check the price of the clothes while buying from wholesaler, because there is a copy of everything. If there is a top, it will be the same in their shop as well. But the difference in them will be; for example, if there is one stitch, it will cost 5 rupees more. If there is interlocking, it will cost 10 rupees more. There is a difference in clothes. We check the clothes. It is a big deal to explain to the customer. For example, if a customer comes to my shop and says that he is getting clothes for so and so price in other shops then I ask him to check the quality. I have to explain to him that my clothes are good, I have interlocking.
If customers compare prices with other shops the I have to explain to him that my size is good, my clothes are good, I have interlocking and that their clothes will be different.
In order to survive in online competition, the quality of the clothes should be good. The prices of the clothes should be reasonable. We should keep up with the latest trends in clothing. The design should be appealing. The quality of the clothes should not be poor. The color should not be poor. The size should be accurate. If it's labeled as XXL, it should be XXL. If it's labeled as XXL locally, it means it is equivalent to a size L.
I have been a part of the sangathan since the beginning. As a Khandelwal, I knew what people liked and bought clothes accordingly. I personally purchase the clothes every time, going on my own and staying outside for 4 days with my staff. I don't order online. I am familiar with women's fashion and understand their concerns, such as lace, so I carefully inspect the work before making a purchase. Handwork can irritate the skin and stomach, so I make sure to check before buying.
Other shopkeepers obtain clothes from Surat, while I source pure fabric clothes from Jaipur and Kolkata. For instance, the pure Bandhani fabric is available, but they settle for a copy from Surat. There is a noticeable distinction between pure fabric and copy fabric. Initially, they were unaware of this, but now that they have started purchasing from me, they have come to understand it. The price remains the same, but the fabric quality differs significantly. This is because chiffon and georgette have a grainy texture. Other shopkeepers sell smooth fabric and label it as chiffon. As a result, people can now perceive the difference and choose according to their preferences.
By God's grace, I have everything, including a house. I need to earn at least 30K per month, which I don't get. I have been trying to improve my business, but I am unable to do so. I know how to do a lot of jobs. I have worked in a grocery shop, a jewel shop, an iron shop, an arrack shop, and a whiskey shop. I have also worked in cinema theatres. Customers come to me because I have all quality stuff in chappals which comes from Bangalore also. I have nice models as well. Mainly, I have all the models that they want. So, through word of mouth, sales are going well. But now, I want to start a business that is actually in demand. I am planning to open ice-cream or juice shop. There are no shops close by, so it may work out for me. I am experienced to open any type of business by God’s grace. I want to open the new business in the same shop. As This place is very familiar and nostalgic to me. I can go anywhere without any fear, even if it means leaving my family behind for a few days.
I have 2-3 vendors in Jaipur. I buy from the ones I like. It's not like I buy everything from one vendor. First, I look around the market to see what's new and how it is. Then I buy from where I want to go. First, I look around the market to see what's new. I go to 4 places and look for fabrics. Then I go to the vendors and see if I can sell the items that they have then I buy them. Yes, I look for fabrics. I look for what is trending in fashion. I get clothes. I get that kind of work. But I look for something new. For example, I look for pots, pearls and sequins. I look for trends in fashion. There are a lot of sequins in fashion. There are no pearls in trend and sometimes it comes back in trend. I look for trends in fashion and work according to that. I see it on TV. I see people wearing it. I know from the actresses on what's in fashion and what's not. I know from the people in the demo. Yes, in the wholesaler’s shop. For example, when you go to the market then you see that the Banarasi pattern has gone and now something new is coming. I buy according to that. I look for designs, the kind of work that has been done in it and I look at its embroidery. That’s all I see. The main thing is the material so I pay a lot of attention to the fabric.
My shop runs on fabrics. I don't compromise on the quality whether you buy it or not. I look for quality. Once a customer comes, he'll buy it. If I wear a daily use kurti; it will remain the same if it will be washed 100 times. If you wash a market kurti once then you wouldn’t even want to look at it. That's the difference in my shop. I tell people and convince them. I tell them to buy it once and come back. They come after that.
I have to convince customers. Some customers can't buy it. They have an investment of Rs.500. How can they buy it for Rs.700? I tell them to buy it once and then tell me. When they wash it and use it then they say it's good. The only thing I have with my shop is that I don't compromise on the quality of my products. Customers come only for the quality otherwise they don't come to me leaving the whole market. As you can see, I don't have a lot of products. But in this, the customer is satisfied. They say that I have 100 designs and all of them are good. They tell me that they keep 1000 designs in the market out of which 10 are shown and they take just 2 of them. They say that they like all the 100 items that I show them and they can’t even choose 50. That's why I don't try to buy a lot of products. I only keep what's in fashion. It's not that if the fashion is out, your product is bad. It's not like that.
Ma'am, I go to such vendors to ensure that the quality of clothes is good. That's why I choose the vendors carefully. That’s why I kept them on number 1 so that I get good quality items. There are a lot of vendors there. There are lakhs of vendors. I choose them because their fabric is the best. That's why I go to 4 places and buy from 1 place after looking at the material. They also satisfy me in the same way. They ask me to take their items and look at their work. They tell me that the poth won’t get black. They also convince me with their words and I also convince my customers with my words. I look at the fabric. Everyone's work is not the same. There are 10 shops there. But the goods from those 10 shops will be different. You go to everyone's shop. Everyone's goods will not be the same. Everyone's goods will be different. Yes, it's different in every shop because every shop wants to keep something different. They also keep it different. So I take whatever I feel will can be sold in Pratapgarh and what my customers will like.
I know what customers will like that’s why I take Marwari touch instead of Surat work. People don't like a lot of sequins but there is a thin variety of sequins which people like and it is different. You know, when I go to Jaipur, I get the same stuff for Rs. 500 in one shop and the same stuff for Rs. 800 in the second shop and the same for Rs.1500 in the third shop. In the beginning, when I went there, I was very confused. I was getting sequins for Rs. 1500 in one shop and for Rs. 500 in the other. They told me to show it to them. The items were from different shops but all of them were different. You can tell the difference in quality by looking at their different price.
I have to be very careful about customer’s likes and dislikes. Some customers like the design here and some customers like the design on the other side so I have to be very careful. I talk to my customers before I go. I talk to my proper customers and I ask them if they want to buy something. They tell me to buy something that has the booty below and not at the top. I have to be very careful about women's likes. Women see a lot of things in one sari. They see 100 of things. I have to convince them with a lot of things. It is very difficult. I have to tell them. I ask them to wear it and see in the mirror. So they see and tell me that they like it. I buy those saris whose lace don’t hurt. It should be nice and shouldn’t get torn in one wash. I pay attention to the work that’s done in the saris. The main thing is I am a lady and I know how to carry a sari and what problems do they give. If the work is done heavily at the bottom then it creates a problem to wear the sari and even walk in one. So I take those saris which have light work at the bottom and more on the pallu. I see there are no wide borders because then the plates won’t be made. I take care of all these things.
Yes. You know, I went to Surat. I went with my husband to see the market and get to know why do people bring so many items from Surat. I bought items from Surat and none of it got sold in my shop. And I couldn't even sell the items. I was ashamed to show them to my customers. I bought them. Many customers come who want a low range and who don't wear expensive clothes. I bought for them. But I couldn't show it to my good customers. And those whom I sold, believe me, everyone returned it to me because after wearing it twice, their pants tear, their stitching opens. And in my suit there is double stitching with interlocking. There is no question of it tearing. This is the difference. I myself checked this difference and I came to know about it. It didn't sell at all. My stuff is completely useless. It doesn't sell at all. I keep it. I take it out. Like a lot of people come who want it at a cheap so I take it out and sell it. To be honest, a lot of my items gets sold and if it will be left then it will be the poor quality ones. So a lot of it gets sold and that’s why I go in every 2 months to get new items. And I don't buy so much that it doesn't sell. I bring them in a way that everything sells off.
Trust is built based on the way you talk to them. You give him proper information about the product that you are showing it to them. like we get products like wire, so we tell them about such features if that wire if fire proof or not. We show the testing of wire to the customer and show him the copper quality. We burn the wire with a matchstick and show him here at the shop. We also scan the product through a scanner to show if it is original or not. We do some testing of the products at the shop which other shopkeepers don’t do that. With this, our customers trust us that we are genuine and giving them genuine products. When they buy the right product, they trust us and they are happy customers who will further recommend us to another customer. I try to make loyal customers and for doing so, I need to build trust with them and offer good rates and plus show good behaviour. I have to work with all three ways and then he becomes as a loyal customer.
I don't compromise on quality because if we sell local products of poor quality, it will damage our trust and reputation. I have established a mindset among customers that we offer branded products at fair prices and guarantee their authenticity. Trust is built over time, and if I were to start selling low-quality local products, even if it saves money initially, it will eventually lead to customer dissatisfaction and loss of trust. Customers may not be aware of what is considered local or of poor quality, but I understand the technical aspects. I don't prefer local products. For instance, the vendor from Kanpur, sitting below where madam is, provided a similar product at a lower cost. I purchased it from him, but the quality of that product was extremely poor. I even sold it at a lower price. After customers purchased it, I started receiving complaints. The entire drawer is filled with that product, resulting in a loss of at least one and a half lakh.
No, I am not sure if they are regular customers because sometimes the medicines are not effective. Sometimes the medicine doesn't work due to the environment. Additionally, there are many companies, so not all medicines from every company will provide 100 percent results. We have to choose which company's medicine is good.
No, they already do the quality check before sending it to us. For vegetables, if you are not able to grow anything, then they come to me with complaints. And then I tell the company, as I told you earlier.
No, I don't do anything to write customers' feedback. I remember it. I know which shade is good and which is not, and what customers like. We bring it accordingly.
Quality is first. If you give the best quality, people will come. Some customers don't care about the price. They care about the quality.
Firstly, I consider the customer as a highly important person. I find inspiration from them. When a customer intends to purchase something worth Rs.100, I show them something worth Rs.500, regardless of whether they decide to buy it or not. I explain this approach to all the female employees in the shop, instructing them to do the same. If a customer comes to buy a particular item, they should show them other related items as well. They should also suggest that the customer consider purchasing those items next time. This is the aim: to ensure that people understand. That's why I attract customers from distant locations, as they appreciate the quality of the items I offer. Because of my customers, I stay awake all night. If I were to go home, I would leave immediately, but I know that my customers will come. That's why I remain awake throughout the night. And everyone is aware of this fact.
I bring it or check it when I come here, and I inform vendors beforehand. If there is a problem, they take it back. Vendors also provide delivery service. If I want something, I can call them and they will deliver it to me.
When I go to Asansol, I search for products there. And when I go to Kolkata, I also search. I search by myself. Last month, I went to Asansol. From there, I bring products. Before going to that shop, I survey the market to see if any new products have come in. I compare the prices. If I survey 4-5 shops, I get an idea of the price. If I visit 4 to 5 shops, I have an idea that in this shop, this product costs this much. When I go to my regular vendor, I check if that item is available there and I try to know the price. Then I can understand where the price is higher. If I see that a shopkeeper is charging me more, then I don't buy from him. Obviously, I buy from the shop where the price is lower. But the person from whom I buy the product is very good, he offers a reasonable price. It is his wholesale shop.
There's no fixed vendor, actually. When it is very urgent, I can't go to Kolkata or Asansol. Then I have a fixed vendor in Benachiti from whom I bring products. In Asansol, I also have a fixed vendor from whom I bring products. Additionally, I search for new shops and check the product quality there.
To choose vendors, I go to the market and conduct a market survey. I visit different shops and compare the prices and quality of the same items. If I find the same products available in two shops with the same quality but different prices, I will obviously choose the shop with the lower price. I do not stock any local products in my shop. Instead, I always keep branded products because customers may initially buy local products at a lower price, but they often come back to complain that the product is not working. However, with branded products, even though the price is slightly higher, the products are more durable and customers often come back to tell me that the product was good. Therefore, I prefer to stock only branded products.
I know which distributors to go to because I have purchased goods from them. If I have bought goods from them about 8-10 times and seen that the stock is of good quality, then I continue with them. For the first time, I would have heard about the distributor from a friend. Word of mouth carries great significance in my line of work. I also have a friend who owns a garment shop and he has told me about them.
We selected Asian Paints because it is the best among all paints. That's why. Earlier, we used to sell products from 2-3 different companies. However, we noticed that the sales of Asian Paints were higher. This is one point. Additionally, the quality of Asian Paints is superior compared to other companies. That's why we decided to remove all other companies and only focus on Asian Paints. Asian Paints is much better. Previously, we used to sell Gautam and other brands. Before that, we sold Berger. Asian Paints has been available in our shop since the beginning.
People mostly find out about the shop through word of mouth. We don't have any ads or anything. It's been 2 years since we opened the shop, so how people communicate with each other, through that we get customers. Rates will be reasonable. So, we have items of both first and second quality. For example, the pulses will be available in both first and second quality. So there will be an item for Rs 190/ and the same item will be available for Rs 150/ as well. Based on my customers, I will give them the first quality only, so they will use it and give good reviews accordingly. We don't circulate any ads or anything. During the festival time, we may have some offers going on, like for a purchase of around Rs 2000/, we will give something for free. It's been two years, and I have brought out offers at least two times till now.
If a new customer comes, we try to make them our regular customers based on what we say and the rates. We have to show them the quality of the products at our store and convince them. That's all. So, they will visit other shops and come here. There are a couple of huge wholesale stores nearby, and they will see the rates there and come. Some people may not like the quality, and some people just ask for the rates. For example, if they want around 2 times, they will inquire about the rates of at least 50 items. Sometimes they may want a particular item that is not available, so we will buy and keep it specifically for them. If we give them what they ask for, they will definitely come again next time. We should be friendly and talk to them. We must not be harsh towards them. Sometimes they may ask if we have a family, so we have to answer them as well. They will call and ask us for the items. There are 4-5 customers who call and place orders. They may visit once every 4 months, but the bill will come every month. So, we will deliver the order, collect the cash, and come back.
In the last 2 years, the number of customers has increased. Generally, one or two customers have stopped coming. However, they expect a significant difference in the rates, which we haven't addressed much. Therefore, if we engage in wholesale at a large scale, it will affect the rates for the customers. There are one or two shopkeepers who come like that. It is because of the items. Even if there is a slight dissatisfaction related to the item, I simply return them. I no longer keep them. I will keep them clean most of the time, as and when necessary. So it's about cleanliness, and once we deliver quality products, the customers will also be satisfied.
Quality of the item. These are the items we use at home as well, right? So it's the same. When we see the product, we get to know the quality. So, whatever the customer asks for, we will get it for them. Even if we say that the quality won't be that good, they won't listen; they will still buy it according to their choice, as they must like it.
In online, the quality won't be good enough. When the rates are higher, it will ensure the quality, but sometimes, even the higher-priced items are not of good quality.
The quality given to the customer must be the best to take the shop to the next level. We have added another section for rice and other items.
Customers desire a good product at a reasonable price. This is their primary requirement. However, they frequently base their decisions on budget constraints. In that sense, for this budget, there isn't a mobile that won't have some limitations. Mobiles with higher RAM tend to perform better, but completely eliminating the issue of hanging is challenging. You're inquiring about fulfilling their needs, and the answer is somewhat elusive. They can't be entirely satisfied. So, they should adapt and change. They might go through a lot of trouble in their quest to save a mere 2000rs on a mobile, believing that spending more won't resolve the hanging issue. When a considerable number of people go through this cycle, they start to understand the importance of investing in quality products.
When you buy a product, such as coconut oil as you mentioned, you can assess its quality based on factors like purity and fragrance. Similarly, with grinders, you can gauge their quality by the sound they produce. Many people, especially our mothers, have a deep understanding of quality in this regard. It's important to note that even for a lower price point, some manufacturers use aluminum motors, which can lead to burnt smells and overheating in the long run, indicating lower quality. While cost is a factor, quality is priority. Our walk-in customers often visit multiple stores before coming to us, and they may attempt to negotiate our prices. For instance, if they bargain for a product priced at 7,000 rupees while our rate is 9,500 rupees, they might not initially comprehend the motor difference, such as aluminum versus copper. Often, customers only learn about these distinctions through their own experiences. Unfortunately, some may initially opt for lower-quality products and later require servicing. We try to show them the motor and explain the difference; this is copper and gives two year warranty.
Customers come to me because I have all quality stuff in chappals which comes from Bangalore also. I have nice models as well. Mainly, I have all the models that they want. So, through word of mouth, sales are going well.
When we buy chappals, we look at the weight, then we fold them and see. With that, we can determine the quality. Sometimes, when we try to pull the straps, they may be slightly loose. We will also come to know that at that time. We prefer to buy fresh items; they usually don't give us old pieces.
